In case you don’t already know me well, I’m Bev Parrish. I married Chris in 1982 and we’ve shared a wonderful marriage and friendship all these years.
We have seven kids, ages 37-20 – six boys and one girl right in the middle. Our oldest four sons are married, and we have six granddaughters and one grandson! Our daughter with special needs is our only “kid” at home. But I’m still in the thick of it with parenting, running our businesses, and the stuff of life. I’m trying to do that in a way that pleases God.
When I was a young wife and mother, the pastor of our small church and his wife invited us all to come along with them as they journeyed through life. They lived in a ‘glass house’ so to speak – imperfections and all, so we could learn what this marriage, and parenting, and living for Jesus thing was all about.
There really weren’t a lot of other women older and more experienced than I was – at least there weren’t any who were at home like me! When I first began homeschooling in 1990, there were few sources of encouragement and instruction. In both of those cases, I filled the gap with words written by women I would never meet. I am profoundly grateful for their willingness to invite me in, and I want to pay that forward.
So on this blog, I’ll be talking about things I hope might encourage you in your life as a believer, a mom (maybe a home schooling mom), a wife, and a friend.
Come journey with me.
